Eye Drop List - GP Exams

Artificial Tears/Lubricating Eye Drops:
1. Generic: Hypromellose, Polyvinyl alcohol, Carboxymethylcellulose
2. Brand names: Tears Naturale, Poly-Tears, Celluvisc, Optive
3. Dose: As needed, often multiple times daily
Anti-redness (Decongestants):
1. Generic: Naphazoline
2. Brand names: Clear Eyes-A
3. Dose: 1-2 drops, up to 4 times daily
Antihistamines:
1. Generic: Ketotifen, Olopatadine
2. Brand names: Zaditen, Patanol
3. Dose: 1 drop, usually twice daily
Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs):
1. Generic: Ketorolac
2. Brand names: Acular
3. Dose: 1 drop, 2-4 times daily
Steroid Eye Drops:
1. Generic: Prednisolone, Dexamethasone
2. Brand names: Prednefrin Forte, Maxidex
3. Dose: Variable, often starts higher and is tapered; depends on condition
Antibiotics:
1. Generic: Chloramphenicol, Tobramycin, Ciprofloxacin
2. Brand names: Chlorsig, Tobrex, Ciloxan
3. Dose: Variable, often 1-2 drops every 2-6 hours
Beta Blockers (for glaucoma):
1. Generic: Timolol, Betaxolol
2. Brand names: Timoptol, Betoptic
3. Dose: 1 drop, 1-2 times daily
Prostaglandin Analogs (for glaucoma):

3. Dose: Variable, often 1-2 drops before eye examinations or as prescribed
Miotics (for acute angle glaucoma):

3. Dose: Variable, 1 drop up to 4 times a day
