Final tips

  • You have likely seen the presentation in practice; respond how you would in your office; if not, it’s probably a do-not-miss condition!
  • Highlight every case Age + duration + prominent symptom + positive exam finding + (context of clinical scenario) = Likely diagnosis
  • SUMMARY (3-4 words) (e.g. “rural GP with headache secondary to COVID 19 vaccination rollout”)
  • WHAT IS THIS QUESTION ASKING? ( e.g. possible diagnosis, MOST likely, NEXT step, management action, immediate action etc.)
  • Write investigation as you would on a request slip.
  • Write medication as you would on a prescription.
  • DO NOT leave a blank space – (educated guess, be brave!)
  • Remember the likely diagnosis for the question (especially for KFP)
  • Choose options from different drug groups (non-drug if asked)
  • Common presentations = frequent questions
  • Respiratory – URTI, asthma, COPD
  • Cardiac – Hypertension, IHD, MI
  • Dermatology – Eczema, skin Ca, psoriasis
  • Back pain, minor injuries
  • (BEACH data)
